Dear Aden, www.ask@askaden.com
I am only 28 and I am starting to lose my hair. I noticed a difference in how much hair I had this summer and it does not seem to be getting any better? Do hair thickening shampoos work?

Dear Spidey,
The first step is going in to see a specialist. Billions and billions of dollars are made on garbage products that simply don’t work, and by the way your hair stylist is NOT a specialist. Going in does not cost as much as you think and you will get all your questions answered. They will offer different treatment options. The bad news is once you notice hair loss you have typically lost nearly 50% of the hair in the thinning area. Most of the shampoos on the market are garbage but I know products like Nioxin work very well. But trust me, shampoo alone is not going to bring it back and you can easily spend way more on shampoos when your doctor could get you going on a much better solution. Places like MHR Medical Hair Restoration, have great doctors who may tell you that you need nothing more than Rogaine you can get at Target for $19. Or you may need Propecia or both. The cost will not kill you and you will be glad you are doing the right thing talking to a doctor not buying snake oil at the salon. Also look at a vitamin complex. Nioxin has a great product: Nioxin Intensive Therapy Recharging Complex. It’s a multivitamin with the key component being biotin. Biotin is a great hair an fingernail growth driver. But again, unless you are fighting the battle with the help of a doctor, Nioxin Intensive Therapy Recharging Complex is not going to do the job alone.
